The aim of the consultancy work is to assist with communication activities in the Sustainable Lifestyles, Cities and Industry Branch. These activities will include producing communication materials for two projects within the Responsible Industry and Value Chain Unit (RIVU), in addition to supporting the development of communication materials related to the business and industry consultations which are being coordinated by RIVU. In addition, the consultant will provide the migration of the Branch’s website pages from the existing technology (DotNetNuk) to the new one (Drustage). More specifically, the aim of the work can be described as two-fold:
1) Supporting communications activities in RIVU projects Most of the time of the consultant will be devoted to supporting projects and activities in the Responsible Industry and Value chain Unit (RIVU). 1.1. Life Cycle Thinking briefings: develop two short briefings (on “the policy case for Life Cycle Thinking” and “the business case for Life Cycle Thinking”, or similar), illustrated with a series of 10 to 15 case studies from available material, presented as fact sheets: define their content, layout and medium (leaflet, webpage, video interviews, quotes of stakeholders etc.), and make them easily accessible from the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative website and other sources as appropriate (e.g. SCP Clearinghouse). The goal is to make success stories of applying life cycle thinking available to a wider audience, by describing them in a comprehensive yet simple way, using a language appropriate to business decision makers and policy makers, and using them to illustrate the rationale, the business / policy case for life cycle thinking. About 2.5 months’ time overall 1.2. LC Net: In liaison with the LC initiative partners, write 6 editions of the LC net newsletter and related web content. About 0.5 months’ time overall, from Nov’16 to the end of the contract. 1.3. Eco-Innovation project communication tasks: take stock, research when needed and develop the communication material for the dissemination of the eco-innovation project results including case studies of companies (about 40), media articles (at least 2), infographics (1), powerpoint presentations (on demand). 1.4. Eco-Innovation project dissemination events: organize content of the dissemination webinars on the topics related to eco-innovation such as SMEs, technology and policies for eco-innovation (at least 3) and other dissemination events of which one global event (at least 2), including its communication support and media coverage. 1.5. Overall support in communication of RIVU’s offer: In liaison with RIVU Head and Programme Officers, put together communication materials and strategy to support the outreach and positioning of the Unit’s work in the area of sustainable value chains.
2) Migration of website contents in SLCI Branch - Identify with SLCI Project managers the website pages that need to be kept from the current platform, and migrate them to the new one ahead of 31st December 2016; - Support project managers in re-vamping content of the relevant pages; this may also take place on the new platform during the first months of 2017. The communications consultant will be devoting about 1 months’ time to each one of the 2 Units’ webpages.
