Org. Setting and Reporting

|
This position is located in the Office of the Prosecutor under the general direction of the Prosecutor and Chief of Operations.
|
|
|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
The incumbent will provide administrative and investigative support to the Office of the Prosecutor by:
Maintaining official relations and liaison with local authorities in connection with the Tribunal’s trial and appeals activity;
Locating and assisting witnesses;
Providing administrative, security and logistical support to the Tribunal staff on mission to the field;
Having a central role in providing information to the Prosecutor and Immediate Office staff on political and judicial developments in the region;
Requesting information from other international organizations;
Support the Office of the Prosecutor in connection with Category II cases that have been sent to State Prosecutor’s Office and local courts.
He/she will implement measures to maintain strict security and confidentiality of all information received and follow-up inquiries from Trial Teams.

Education
|
|
|
|
Advanced university degree in Political Science, Law, International Relations, Public Sector Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related area. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
|

Work Experience
|
|
|
|
Minimum of 7 years progressively responsible experience in the specific sector of responsibility (including supervisory and management functions) or related areas such as working with community groups, NGOs and/or international relief or peacekeeping operations.
|
|
|
|
Languages
|
|
|
|
English and French are the working languages of the Tribunal. For the post advertised, working knowledge of English or French languages, both written and oral. Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language skills would be an advantage.
|
|
|
|
Assessment
|
|
|
|
There may be a technical test and competency-based interview.
|
|
|
|
Special Notice
|
|
|
|
The appointment is limited to ICTY. Appointment of the successful candidate on this position will be limited to the initial funding of the post. Extension of the appointment is subject to the extension of the mandate and/or the availability of funds. As the international tribunals are not integrated in the Secretariat, UN Staff Members serve on assignment or secondment from their parent department/office if selected. Appointments of staff members in the United Nations are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General. Staff Members are expected to move periodically to new functions in accordance with established rules and procedures, and may in this context be reassigned by the Secretary-General throughout the Organization based on the changing needs and mandates.
