This position is Chief, Risk Management Unit, which is located in the Commercial Insurance and Compensation Section, Insurance and Disbursement Service, Accounts Division, Office of Programme Planning and Accounts. The incumbent will report to the Chief, Commercial Insurance and Compensation Section.

Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
Under the general guidance of the Chief of the Insurance and Disbursement Service and the direct supervision of the Chief, Commercial Insurance and Compensation Section, in the Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts, Department of Management, the
incumbent shall:
-Work with brokers, insurers and UN Managers to review and analyze risk exposures and recommend appropriate coverage and financing alternatives to peacekeeping and other clients;
-Develop, negotiate and recommend the purchase of the appropriate insurance policies;
-Develop, implement and monitor insurance programmes including auditing premium billings and allocating premium costs, monitoring expenses and estimating cost implications due to changes in exposures; and
-Perform other duties as required.

Education
|
|
|
|
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Finance, Business Administration or related area. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in business administration, accounting or finance with responsibilities for risk management is required. International risk management experience in the selection and management of commercial insurance vendors is required. Experience providing risk management solutions and/or evaluating commercial insurance contracts for a large organization is required.
|
|
|
|
Languages
|
|
|
|
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
|
|
|
|
Assessment
|
|
|
|
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
|
