The post is located in the External and Donor Relations Section of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
|
|
|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
Under the supervision of the Chief of Section the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- assists in developing and implementing resource mobilization and external relations strategies established by the Office;
- establishes and maintaines regular contact with selected Member States and donors, as assigned by the Chief of Section;
- participates in the negotiation of contributions and funding agreements with assigned donors;
- prepares high quality, comprehensive narrative and financial proposals and reports to donors;
- follows-up on pledges and the use of contributions and ensures the maintenance of up-to-date and accurate information for staff and for donors;
- coordinates annual consultations with assigned donors and briefings for Member States;
- participates in occasional missions to field offices in order to meet with donors and coordinate fundraising and reporting activities with field-based colleagues;
- accompanies the Chief of Section and senior managers as appropriate on their missions to Member States’ capitals for fundraising purposes;
- provides advice to branches and field offices on office-wide resource mobilization strategies and approaches;
- drafts correspondence to donors, briefing notes, and strategic and position papers, including talking points for senior management;
- performes other related duties as required.

Education
|
|
|
|
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in international relations, social and political science, business administration or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience at the international level, out of which at least two years of experience in donor relations, resource mobilization and/or liaison with UN Member States and government officials. A proven record of excellent drafting experience in both English and French is required. Substantive experience either in the field of human rights or human right mechanisms would be an asset.

|
Languages
|
|
|
|
Fluency in both oral and written English and French is required. Knowledge of Arabic would be an asset.
|
|
|
|
Assessment
|
|
|
|
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
|
