This position is located in the Capital Master Plan (CMP) Security Coordination Section of the Security and Safety Service in New York. The incumbent reports to the Deputy Chief of Service and coordinates with the Senior Security Coordinator (Capital Master Plan).
|
|
|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
• Reviews and monitors activities related to preparation of IT security plans for the Security and Safety Service during the Capital Master Plan, including all aspects related to elaboration, development and updating of the plan and its implementation.
• Advises SSS senior management on all IT security-related matters as it relates to all CMP swing locations and UNHQs and participates in discussions and development of policies and procedures for IT security operations, contributing inputs related to assigned areas of responsibility.
• Ensures the smooth operation and functioning of all IT related areas within the SSS Security Operations Centre.
• Establishes lines of communication with IT security focal points, and all other CMP staff involved to ensure maximum coordination and compatibility of systems.
• Serves as a member of IT security management teams, contributing to planning, implementation, evaluation and effectiveness of IT security plans and other aspects of IT security operations.
• Monitors and evaluates IT security measures and surveillances, such as barriers, issuance of identity cards, and entry controls, as appropriate, for normal or emergency conditions.
• Makes periodic checks to determine if system is functioning properly. Arranges for necessary repairs or adjustments.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education
|
|
|
|
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
|

Work Experience
|
|
|
|
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in managing, monitoring and administration of IT projects. Experience in military, police or security management, in an IT context or related area is desirable.
|
|
|
|
Languages
|
|
|
|
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English is required, and knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
|
