This post is located in the Technical Services Section (TSS) of the Financial Information Operations Service (FIOS), Office of Programme Planning, Budget and Accounts (OPPBA). The incumbent reports to the Team Leader of TSS.
|

|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
The Information Technology Assistant is responsible for the following duties:
Works as part of the FIOS service desk utilsing iNeed Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for entering and tracking service tickets for OPPBA users.
• Creates and assigns work orders in accordance with established procedure.
• Liaises with other areas of FIOS to facilitate completion of service requests.
• Provides advice to clients regarding standards and workflow processes.
• Performs quality assurance procedures to ensure client satisfaction.
• Escalates problems encountered to the supervisor.
• Performs filing and record-keeping tasks for the Office.
• Keeps abreast of latest Information Communication Technology standards and technology.
Performs various administrative functions for the section.
- Information Technology (IT) Procurement and Asset Management
• Plan and requisition equipment and services
• Co-ordinate receipt and Inspection
• Co-ordinate certification and payment of invoices.
• For stock purchases under $1000, solicits multiple bids from various vendors.
• Monitors inventory levels and alert supervisor when low thresholds are reached.
• Recommends acquisition of hardware, software, devices, tools, etc. to facilitate work.
• Sorts, compiles, and stores equipment in accordance with work orders and/or equipment condition.
• Enters assets and asset transactions into the automated inventory management system in accordance with established procedure.
• Performs hardware and software configuration in accordance with established procedure.
- Human Resources
• Providing input and information on IT consultants and contractors, Post Management in Inspira, Recruitment functions
• Co-ordinate and support staff training, Internal OHRM training, External, Travel-related, UN Mandatory
Keeps abreast of developments in technology in the UN and in the industry in general.

Education
|
|
|
|
High school diploma or equivalent. Supplemental courses/technical certificates in Information Technology are desirable.
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
A minimum of five years of experience in Information Technology field is required. Experience with administrative tasks such as Financial management, Procurement and/or Time and Attendance required, preferably in the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) or SAP. Experience with Windows XP and supporting PC environments required, with specific focus on Financial application support desirable. Experience with Customer Relationship Management software required, preferably iNeed (Siebel). Experience in at least any of the following financial subject areas: budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, payroll, insurance or income taxes desirable.

Languages
|
|
|
|
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
|

Assessment
|
|
|
|
Eligible candidates may be requested to undergo written knowledge-based assessment exercises, which may be followed by a competency-based interview depending on the result of the test.
|
|
|
|

This position is for local recruitment.
Passing the New York Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Service category in the United Nations Headquarters at New York. To make arrangements to take this test, you may bring in person a copy of your completed Personal History Profile to the General Services and Related Categories Staffing Unit (GSRCSU), United Nations Secretariat, located at One United Nations Plaza (at corner of 1st Avenue and 44th Street), Room DC1-200. GSRCSU receives applicants every Wednesday (except public holidays) between 10.00 am and 12.00 Noon.
Persons wishing to take the ASAT are pre-screened and, if successful, scheduled to sit the ASAT at a later date.
