This position of Computer Information Systems Assistant (Business Intelligence System Developer) is located in the Corporate Software Solutions Section, Information Technology Service, Division of Management, United Nations Office at Vienna/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The incumbent will report to the Chief of the Unit.
|

|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
• Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of New Business Intelligence application systems releases, modules and functionalities using UN established standards for IT technologies, programming languages and tools.
• Assists with the development, maintenance, updates and customizations of Business Intelligence reports and dashboards according to specifications.
• Serves as team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems; independently liaise with users to define and specify requirements.
• Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials and conduct technical presentations.
• Provide support for deployed computer application systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to users' offices; perform ongoing reviews with users and developers and respond to users requests.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field; perform benchmarking and propose new acquisitions.
• Provide guidance to new/junior staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
|
|
|
|
Completed secondary education in computer science, relevant post-secondary education or trainng is n asset. Must have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away. Training in computer technology and software development is required.
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
A minimum of eight years of experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing or related area is required. Solid knowledge and experience with PHP, JAVA, ExtJS framework, Ajax-related technologies and Eclipse BIRT is a distinct asset. Sound technical experience with MySQL, Sybase or other relational databases is required. Experience with LINUX based Operating systems is required.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency/proficiency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
