The Information Systems Officer will be under the supervision of the Chief, Information Management Unit, Quality Assurance and Information Management Section (QAIMS), Field Personnel Specialist Support Service (FPSSS), Field Personnel Division (FPD)
|

|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
A. Analyses systems and databases for human resource management systems by:
• Participating in the migration of current HR systems and data to enterprise talent management and resource management solutions.
• Performing systems analysis and database analysis of various modules of the current and legacy Human Resources applications.
• Assessing system information architecture and data models for alignment of systems and business requirements.
B. Manages small projects for enhancements to existing human resource management systems and for new systems by:
• Managing projects involving feasibility studies, systems analysis, design, development and implementation of new functionality for human resource management systems; participates as a member of a development team with responsibility for major components of these systems.
• Providing specialized advice to human resource management system FPD and field mission users, analyzing requirements and translating these into technical specifications.
• Organizing and performs unit and integration testing, designing and utilizing test databases relevant for FPD and field mission users; assists users in FPD and the field in acceptance testing.
C. Develops business intelligence and reporting solutions for strategic planning and performance evaluation, and for operational monitoring by:
• Designing and implements database-driven business intelligence solutions, including data models and interfaces.
• Meeting proactively with business owners and stakeholders to ensure alignment of reporting solutions with emerging strategic and operational direction.
D. Supports human resource management system for end-users and business owners by:
• Developing training materials, including both administration and user manuals; trains support staff and end-users in assigned systems.
• Developing disaster recovery plans and ensures appropriate planning and training of those responsible to ensure business continuity for FPD and field mission users of human resource management systems.
• Providing guidance to, and may supervise, new and junior staff engaged in systems development, support, and reporting.

Education
|
|
|
|
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems, including a broad experience in administering SQL databases.
|
|
|
|
Languages
|
|
|
|
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
|

Extension of the appointment is subject to Extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds.

- This post is financed by the Support Account for Peacekeeping Operations. Extension of appointment will be subject to budgetary approval.
