|
The position is located in the Radio and Television Section, Information Service Geneva and the incumbent reports to the Chief of Section.
|
|
|
|
Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Radio and Television Section, and within limits of delegated authority, Webcast Assistant is responsible for the following duties:
1. Assists in ensuring the live and on demand production and delivery of webcast services:
-researches, compiles and presents basic information for use in the preparation and production of webcast video productions and services;
-identifies and prepares new material for inclusion in wecast schedules;
-uses relevant computer software and develops webcast webpages in appropriate formats, with embedded video players, such as Flash video and Real Media for live and on-demand streaming;
-monitors, streams and records live meetings and events;
-prepares, times and posts speaker-by-speaker logs;
-updates webcast web pages.
2. Installs and monitors the performance of webcast encoders and other computer-based video streaming and editing systems with respect to proper live streaming connectivity, video file management; file storage, retention and deletion practices to ensure consistent application of basic guidelines:
- conducts research on new technologies as requested;
- keeps abreast of developments in the field, assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies;
- identifies problems/issues and liaises with appropriate personnel for their resolution.
3. Coordinates responses to requests for various services:
- maintaining the section’s equipment and software inventory;
- generating a variety of statistical and other reports from various webcast logfiles and databases.

Education
|
|
|
|
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have passed the United Nations Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT).
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
Five years experience in webcasting, information technology or a related field.
|
|
|
|
Languages
|
|
|
|
Fluency in oral and written English and Basic knowledge of French are required; Knowledge of an additional UN official language would be an advantage.
|
|
|
|
Assessment
|
|
|
|
Evaluation of the qualified candidates will be done through a written assessment, followed by competency-based interviews.
|
|
|
|
Special Notice
|

|
|
Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Appointment against this post is on a local basis and is open only to those who have been successful in the relevant entry level examination given by the duty station identified above.
