These positions are located in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) . The Movement Control Assistants will be based in Bangui. The Movement Control Assistants report to the Chief of Section, Movement Control or to Movement Control Officer.

Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
Within delegated authority, the Movement Control Assistants will carry out the following duties:
• Develop passenger and cargo load plans. • Ensure that dangerous goods are transported in accordance with the applicable international Dangerous Goods Regulations. • Manage and coordinate shipments including customs clearance, specifying carriers, routes of movement, transit times, service levels. • Facilitate contacts with local authorities responsible for travel-related, immigration and customs issues. • Assist with the planning and execution of military and police contingent movements. • Liaise and coordinate with military/police personnel for military and police contingent movements. • Draft Movement Orders. • Collect movement information and define requirements. • Coordinate non-scheduled mission flights. • Prepare operational reports and related statistical data. • Review and distribute manifests. • Maintain contact with other UN agencies, non-government and government organizations with regard to their travel requirements on Mission air assets. • Provide multi-modal movement control support to the Sector. • Plan, prioritize, coordinate and monitor movement tasks and responsibilities in the Sector. • Allocate and delegate tasks as required to each Movcon element in the Sector. • Provide assistance to Travel, Procurement and Logistics Units/Sections. • Perform other related duties as required.

Education
|
|
|
|
High school or equivalent diploma is required.
|
|
|
|
Work Experience
|
|
|
|
At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in movement control, freight forwarding, cargo operations, logistics management or a related field. Prior experience in the JMCC, experience in tasking and coordinating transport assets assigned to deployed Military Transport Units (Transport Enablers) is required. Experience in managing self-supported Movement Control Units in the field is an advantage.

Languages
|

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French is required.

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
